It is important to note that this is NOT a warrior Clans roleplay; it is based on the ancient cats from the Warriors books that lived at the lake before the Clans arrived. Our interpretation of the lives of these cats are not exactly the same as in the Warriors book; it is our interpretation.
Here is a description of their lives, in general.
The cats were not organized into a formal Clan or group, but instead lived throughout the land like loners. However, they were united loosely; they had a chosen leader who could resign whenever he/she liked, but this leader did not control or dictate the cats with the kind of power that a Clan leader possesses. They also did not have a deputy or medicine cat; instead most of the cats had a vague knowledge of herbs and medicine. However, there were usually those individuals whose knowledge of herbs exceeded notably. These cats were often sought out for advice and medical help.
The cats did not perform normal Clan duties such as hunting and patrolling, but they did occasionally catch prey for their peers and elders. Therefore, there was no fresh-kill pile; if you didn't catch your own prey, you might go hungry if someone wasn't kind enough to share prey with you.
There was no camp; cats would make their dens wherever they pleased. However, they would gather at the Moonpool for meetings to discuss news and make decisions. A traditional way of making decisions was the casting of the stones; a line would be drawn in the dirt and cats would place their stone, or their vote, on whicver side they agreed with. In a way, this was a primitive democracy.
As for territories, cats choose where they wish to reside. Territories belong to no one in particular. Some cats may choose to migrate from territory to territory or they may want to have a permanent home. Cats have a right to protect their dens but not an entire territory.
